Villa's Warnock joins Bolton on loan
Aston Villa left-back Stephen Warnock has joined Championship side Bolton on a three-month loan deal with a view to a permanent move during the January transfer window.
Warnock, 30, has not made a first-team appearance at Villa Park since Paul Lambert's arrival as manager during the summer, and had been targeted by Bolton boss Owen Coyle during the transfer window.
He is reported to have been told by Lambert that he has no future at the club he joined for £8 million from Blackburn in 2009, and has been training with the club's development squad at Bodymoor Heath.
It now appears that he has kicked his last ball for Villa as he looks to resurrect his career at the Reebok Stadium.
Coyle, whose side have endured a tough start to life back in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League, told Bolton's official website: "We tried to get him to the club before the summer transfer deadline, but it never came to fruition, so I'm delighted that we have now been able to bring him in.
"He has a terrific pedigree and has moved for large sums of money in his career, so we know his quality.
"He has the right character, and it's important that we bring those attributes into the group. He ticks all the boxes, and when I spoke to him you could tell how keen he was to come here."
Coyle said Wanderers had wrapped up the Warnock move despite competition from "a host of clubs" in the Championship".
