Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Lassana Diarra has joined Anzhi Makhachkala on a four-year deal.
Diarra, 27, completed his move from Real Madrid after being deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho, despite playing both of the Spanish champions' opening two league games.
The France international midfielder is not the only new signing at the Dagestan club, with Nikita Burmistrov also arriving from Amkar Perm.
"The signings of these footballers totally correspond to the strategy of our club achieving top aims," Anzhi chief executive Ayvaz Kaziakhmedo said. "We are confident that, together with Lassana and Nikita, the club will fight for the most prestigious titles.''
Diarra will soon be lining up alongside the likes of Samuel Eto'o, Christopher Samba and Yuri Zhirkov, who also joined Anzhi in expensive deals.
At the Santiago Bernabeu, Diarra struggled to hold down a first-team place, but he was part of the squad which won La Liga last season.
It had been rumoured the former Portsmouth man would be moving to AC Milan, but the San Siro outfit opted to bring in Nigel de Jong from Manchester City instead.
