Diamanti, a member of Italy's European Championship squad over the summer, was previously co-owned by Brescia and only joined Bologna on a permanent basis after they won a blind auction.

The club published a statement on their official website, which said: "Bologna FC 1909 announces that it has reached a mutually satisfactory agreement with Alessandro Diamanti for the adaptation and extension of his contract until 30 June 2017."

The former West Ham man scored Italy's winning penalty in their shoot-out victory over England at Euro 2012.
