Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex has warned that it will take time for the club to become a major force.
PSG have invested heavily since a Qatari takeover in 2011, with the likes of Javier Pastore, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi all joining in the last year.
However, Brazilian centre-back Alex, a January signing from Chelsea, is not expecting the club to become successful instantly.
"A team needs at least two seasons to gel properly and get into a position to challenge regularly for trophies," he told Champions magazine. "When I joined PSG, it was clear to me we would not start winning overnight.
"It's understandable that the arrival of new owners and all the media coverage of the team would get people overexcited, but the players always knew we are in the process of building a foundation.
"Qatar Sports Investment certainly haven't come to PSG and committed so many resources not to win tournaments, though. I have faith - we have a chance to build something special."
