• Cotterill leaves Forest post

The Al-Hasawi family completed their acquisition of the Championship club earlier this week and manager Steve Cotterill was swiftly sacked after less than a year in charge.

The Kuwaiti owners are now searching for a new boss, with Hoddle, Mick McCarthy, Darren Ferguson and Roy Keane the current bookmakers' favourites for the post.

Regarding a shortlist, Abdulaziz Al-Hasawi is quoted by the Sun as saying: "We are talking to several iconic names that have a very clear understanding of this league. Hopefully that should be resolved soon."

Former England manager Hoddle has not been in management since leaving Wolves in 2006, as he has focused on his football academy, although it is suggested he could be tempted by an approach from Forest.

When quizzed on the matter by ESPN, Hoddle, who is thought to have turned down nearly 30 jobs in six years, said: "I've no comment to make at the moment."
