Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has hailed new signings Chico and Jonathan de Guzman, following their arrivals at the South Wales club on Tuesday.

Laudrup believes that the duo, signed for £2 million and a season-long loan respectively, can have a major impact on the Swans' Premier League hopes this campaign.

The Danish manager told the club's official website: "I can guarantee that we have two players who will give everything from the first day. I know Chico and I know what he can do for us. I think it's a very important signing. He has a lot of experience from the Spanish and Italian leagues.

"He can play good football, but he is also physical and aggressive. In fact, he could have been born here in Swansea rather than in the south of Spain! I think with the position the team and the club are in at the moment, it's important to bring in some experience of the highest level.

"He is a great signing for us, as is Jonathan, who is another player who has the quality and motivation, which is important."

Regarding midfielder De Guzman, who he previously coached at Mallorca, Laudrup believes that his game will be perfectly suited to Swansea's playing style.

He added: "He is a box-to-box player. He receives and moves the ball, can play in small spaces, so I think he will fit in perfectly with this team.

"He will suit the style here because he is used to that kind of football. He is an offensive player, but he can also play anywhere in midfield which can give you some alternatives."
