Serbian head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has dismissed Fiorentina midfielder Adem Ljajic from the national team squad after he did not adhere to rules that require every player to sing the national anthem.

Ljajic, 20, fell foul of the new coach's rules after abstaining from singing for "personal reasons", as Spain took on Serbia in St. Gallen on Saturday.

The former Partizan Belgrade youngster, who is a Muslim, was then asked to leave the squad by Mihajlovic after the incident, the football association announced.

It is the second time in under a month that Ljajic has made headlines. On May 2, Ljajic was on the receiving end of punches from then Fiorentina manager Delio Rossi, having sarcastically applauded his substitution. Rossi was later dismissed from his role.
