Vasco da Gama lead the early stages of the Brazilian Campeonato after Felisbino Alecsandro scored in the 1-0 win over Portuguesa.

Vasco have six points from two games after Alecsandro netted 22 minutes into the game.

Internacional lie second in the table, two points behind Vasco, following a 3-3 draw away to Flamengo. Internacional scored through Gilberto, Silva Fabricio and Jesus Datolo. The Flamengo goals were scored by from Airton, Ronaldinho and Vagner Love.

Bida scored for Atletico Goianiense in the 1-1 draw with Ponte Preta whose goal came from Roger, while the game between Nautico Recife and Cruzeiro ended 0-0.
