Wigan have received a boost in their Premier League relegation battle with the news winger Victor Moses has not fractured his jaw and could be fit to face Stoke at the weekend.

Moses, 21, was kicked in the head by Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel on Saturday, winning the penalty that put the Latics on the way to a shock 2-1 victory at Anfield.

Moses was forced off before half-time but scans allayed initial fears about the severity of the injury.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez told the club's official website: "We got him checked out straight away in the hospital because there was the potential for a fractured bone in his face.

"The results came back really positive and there was no fracture, which allows us to treat him. We will see within the next few days whether he is available for selection on Saturday.''

Meanwhile, Martinez is also hopeful Hugo Rodallega and Mohamed Diame will recover quickly from knee and groin problems, respectively.
