Saints opened the scoring through Graham Carey's free-kick, before Craig Beattie cancelled that out when he headed his first goal for the Jambos.

Beattie wrongly had a goal ruled offside before setting up Rudi Skacel to head home just after the break, but St Mirren earned a replay when Nigel Hasselbaink's shot deflected inside the near post off Zaliukas.

Goals in the first half by Roy O'Donovan and Leigh Griffiths were enough to give Hibernian a 2-0 victory over First Division side Ayr United at Somerset Park and put their team into the semi-finals.

In a lively start by the visitors O'Donovan headed in a George Francomb free-kick after six minutes, after earlier having the ball in the net only to see the flag up for offside.

In the 19th minute Griffiths made it number two from the spot after Ayr defender Andrew Geggan had fouled Hibs midfielder Isaiah Osbourne at a corner. Ayr battled hard to get back into the game but the Premier League side always had the edge.
