Argentina Clausura Review

Estudiantes climb to the top

March 10, 2012

Estudiantes moved to the top of the Argentinian Clausura standings on Friday night with a 1-0 home win over Lanus.

Matias Sarulyte netted the game's only goal midway through the second half to send Estu a point ahead of Boca Juniors and Tigre at the summit, albeit having played a game more.

In the day's other match, Newell's Old Boys were 3-0 winners at nine-man Colon Santa Fe.

Pablo Perez put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half-time and late goals from substitute Martin Tonso and Maximiliano Urruti sealed the triumph after the hosts had lost Ivan Moreno y Fabianesi and Gerardo Alcoba to red cards.
