Borussia Dortmund playmaker Shinji Kagawa says he is not ready to leave the club and confirmed he is in talks about extending his contract.

Kagawa, 22, has sparkled for Dortmund over the past couple of seasons and played a major role in the club lifting last season's Bundesliga title.

The Japan star has maintained that form in the current campaign and has netted five goals in his past six games - including match-winning strikes against Leverkusen and Mainz - to help Jurgen Klopp's side to a seven point lead at the top of the table.

Kagawa has reportedly attracted interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, but he insists he is keen to stay at the Westfalenstadion.

"We are now negotiating over the renewal of my contract," Kagawa told German newspaper RevierSport.

"It's what interests me right now although I know that foreign clubs have asked about me. But I don't think it is the right time for me to leave this club."
