Ranieri's Inter side have now gone nine matches without victory in all competitions, and were forced to battle back from two goals down at the San Siro on the weekend. The poor results have added to speculation Ranieri is set to be axed by Inter, with recently-sacked Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas reportedly emerging as the favourite to take over.

"My position? The important thing is Inter, I try to do the best for the team," Ranieri told Sky Sport Italia. "I have a two-year contract and I hope to stay. I think about working and doing the best I can. This is not a simple case, but I believe."

Ranieri hailed Inter's response to going 2-0 down against Catania as the team made a second-half comeback to earn a point. The 60-year-old also took the opportunity to praise Wesley Sneijder who turned the match around in the final stanza.

"At the first opportunity, our opponents scored a goal, and the moment we get a scare, we lack determination," Ranieri said. "We got off to a good start, but then we became quiet with their goal. I have great champions who looked each other in the eyes and they came out with a great reaction.

"[Sneijder] is a champion, so it is normal that I always have to talk about him, but we have to give him time. He is finding himself and he will help us in the future."
