Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze is considering taking ''a complete break'' from football after being diagnosed with a stress fracture of his pubic bone.
Gotze, 19, has to rest for between four and six weeks and he believes the best treatment could be to stay away from the football field.
''Maybe it would be best if I take a complete break,'' he said. ''Maybe I will fly off to get some sunshine.''
The Germany international has been told not to train by club doctor Markus Braun for that period of time, and it will then take him at least a fortnight before being able to return to action.
Rather than watch his team-mates in action without him, he intends to get away from it all to try to lift his morale.
''To be told that I am going to miss eight weeks has really got me down,'' he told the Bild newspaper. ''But life must go on. I really need to have two weeks of peace and quiet now.''
Gotze has been told by Germany coach Joachim Low to keep his chin up and reassured that he is still in his thoughts for Euro 2012.
He said: ''He has told me to keep positive and get through this rehabilitation and then I will be back with them (Germany).''
