Kalou broke the deadlock just before the break and Drogba doubled the lead with a penalty three minutes after the restart.
It was not such a good day for Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote, who saw red in the 73rd minute for an ugly tackle on Mejdi Traore.
Tiote has been highly impressive in Newcastle's midfield this season, drawing speculation that the likes of Manchester United are interested in a potential transfer move.
The African Nations Cup gets underway on Saturday January 21st, with hosts Equatorial Guinea taking on Libya in the opening match of the tournament.
