Burkina Faso coach Paulo Duarte has sprung a major shock and included 16-year-old midfielder Bertrand Traore in his final 23-man squad for the African Cup of Nations.

Traore, who joined Chelsea for a trial last year, is set to become the third youngest player ever at the finals if he starts against Angola in Malabo on January 22. His older brother Alain, who plays at AJ Auxerre in France, is also in the squad.

The current record is held by Gabon's Shiva Star Nzigou, who was 16 years, two months and 30 days old played and scored against South Africa in 2000.

Burkina Faso were allowed to take part in the competition after the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed a case brought by Namibia over the eligibility of defender Herve Zengue.

They will play Angola, Ivory Coast and Sudan in Group B.
