Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has denied reports that Steven Gerrard has suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle infection.

Gerrard has been sidelined since the end of October with an ankle problem, just weeks after recovering from a long-term groin injury, but Dalglish insists his skipper remains on course to return to action "sooner rather than later".
The England midfielder has made just two starts and three substitute appearances for Liverpool this season and, although Dalglish admits he has no date set for Gerrard's return, he is confident that his captain is getting closer to a comeback.
"Steven is getting closer to coming back but we cannot put a date on it," Dalglish said in the Sunday Mirror. "There's been no setback. We have said all along that we are really positive about his recuperation. Steven's progress has been excellent and he will be back sooner rather than later."
