November 23, 2011
Akira Nishino is understood to be stepping down as Gamba Osaka manager at the end of the season, with reports linking him to the position at J.League rivals Urawa Reds.

Nishino took the top job at Gamba in 2002, claiming the J.League title three years later before guiding the club to their first AFC Champions League crown in 2008. Gamba also finished third at the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup under Nishino's leadership.
Gamba Osaka currently sit in third position behind Kashiwa Reysol and Nagoya Grampus as the J.League season reaches its climax. A disappointing 2-2 draw in Niigata at the weekend all but ruined their chance to challenge for the title leading into the final two games of the season.
