Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has revealed that he has been trying to lure Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh back to Ligue 1, though his pursuit has been a frustrating one thus far.

Chamakh, 27, made a promising start to life at Arsenal following his move from Les Girondins in 2010, but his form dipped in the second half of last season and he has been restricted to a bit-part role this term.

The forward, who scored 76 goals in seven years at Bordeaux before joining the Gunners, has grown frustrated with his lack of playing time and his former club are keen to offer him a route back to France.

But Triaud's attempts to contact the Morocco international about a return to the Stade Chaban Delmas have been in vain so far.

"In the last two months I have been leaving messages with Marouane," Triaud told local radio station Gold FM. "I also left messages with Arsene Wenger but I got no answer.

"His silence shows probably that he still hopes he will make it at Arsenal."
