Almunia enjoying Hammers spell
Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia says he is hoping to extend his loan spell at West Ham, having relished the opportunity to play first-team football again.
Almunia, 34, lost his place as Gunners No. 1 last season and having failed to threaten Wojciech Szczesny or Lukasz Fabianski for a place between the posts at the start of the current campaign, he moved to Upton Park on a month-long loan.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce snapped up the Spanish shot-stopper to deputise for England goalkeeper Robert Green, who is currently sidelined with a knee cartilage injury.
But despite being unlikely to displace Green on a permanent basis, Almunia has his eye on extending his stay with the Hammers.
"It's good to feel the game again," Almunia told The Sun. "We will see if I extend my loan. At the moment I am happy - it is a great club with nice people and that's enough for me."
