No fee has been announced for the 26-year-old Spain midfielder, but reports in the country suggest it is around 20 million euros - a record for the club and by far the biggest deal of the 10 signings they have made in a summer of significant rebuilding.

Cazorla, a Spanish international, had said goodbye to his team-mates at Villarreal.

He said: "The club needs to sell [this summer] and I've made the final decision. Everything is being finalised and finally a new chapter is about to begin in my life," he stated.

There has been speculation linking Cazorla with a move to the Premier League, but his arrival at Malaga would follow the recent signings of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jeremy Toulalan and Joaquin as they look to strengthen ahead of the new season.
