Former Greece international Nikos Nioplias is set to take over as the new coach of Cyprus.
The Cyprus Football Association revealed they had made a ''verbal agreement'' with the former Panathinaikos coach to fill the role vacated by his compatriot Angelos Anastasiades in April.
Nioplias is reported to have signed a deal that will take him through to the 2014 World Cup.
The 46-year-old's first game in charge is set to be a home Euro 2012 qualifier against Moldova on August 10, although Cyprus' hopes of qualifying for the finals are remote after a poor group H campaign which finds them second from bottom with just two points.
