Bayern move 'earned Goetze €3.7m'
Mario Goetze earned 3.7 million euros, 10 percent of the transfer fee that took him from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich, when the deal went through, German news magazine Der Spiegel has reported.
Germany midfielder Goetze, 21, joined Bayern for 37 million euros last summer -- a Bundesliga record -- after the champions triggered a release clause in his Dortmund contract.
The Bavaria-born player had extended that deal in March 2012, and Der Spiegel reported that he and his agent Volker Struth included a clause that meant he got 10 percent of the transfer fee.
According to the report, he could have also left Dortmund in the summers of 2014 or 2015, with the release clause decreasing to 30 million euros in 2014 and then to 22 million the following year.
While Struth did not comment on the contract details, Borussia Dortmund CEO Aki Watzke told the magazine that "the transfer was conducted correctly from a business point of view."
