Diamanti joins Guangzhao Evergrande
Alessandro Diamanti is looking forward to a new experience in his life after agreeing to join Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande from Bologna.
Diamanti, 30, links up with former Italy coach Marcello Lippi after the Chinese and Italian clubs reached an agreement over a fee believed to be in the region of nine million euros.
"I'm pleased to be able to start this new adventure and experience of a lifetime together with my family," Diamanti told Corriere dello Sport. "I'd like to thank the whole club: the president, who understood my decision, my teammates, the coach and the staff, all the employees and above all the city of Bologna, who in two years have made me feel important, both on and off the field.
"I just hope I was in some way successful in expressing my enthusiasm in wearing the No. 23 shirt from day one. Thanks Bologna, Alino."
Diamanti has signed a three-year contract with the Chinese club, who were beaten by Bayern Munich in the semifinals of the Club World Cup in Casablanca in December having won the Asian Champions League under the guidance of Italy's 2006 World Cup-winning coach.
The Italy international scored five goals in 19 Serie A games for the Rossoblu this season, totalling 22 goals in 88 appearances for a side he joined from Livorno in 2011, having previously played in the Premier League for West Ham United.
Diamanti is set to be part of Italy's World Cup squad having become a regular under Cesare Prandelli recently.
