AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli has told the media to keep their noses out of his private life after accepting paternity of a child with his former girlfriend.

Balotelli, 23, underwent a DNA test to establish whether or not he fathered the girl, named Pia, who was born in December 2012. He broke up with Raffaella Fico before the baby's birth, but has always promised to play his part in the child's upbringing if it were proven to be his.

Now that is the case, he has hit out at Fico and the media for making such a fuss about the whole affair. After tweeting his delight at being declared the father, he published another tweet expressing his anger at the way the issue had been dealt with, particularly by his ex-girlfriend.

"All of the time wasted spreading lies about me on TV and in the papers -- what good did it do? And to whom?" he wrote.

Another tweet followed in which Balotelli criticised a television presenter, who frequently had Fico as a guest on her show, but that was deleted soon after.

Meanwhile the former Manchester City striker has also updated his Twitter profile to say: "Don't believe anything you read about me unless is (sic) coming from here."
