To go the entire campaign undefeated is one of the last goals left for the current Bayern side, having broken most of the existing league records during their unbeaten run of 44 consecutive games.
And 19 matches into the 2013-14 season, it no longer appears to be a question of whether Bayern can win another title, but more how soon they can secure it.
On Tuesday, tz ran a report headlined: “Will FC Bayern already win the league on March 15?” and gave the answer: “Yes, but only if the chasers goof.”
And Ribery told Bild: “We’ve got a 13-point lead over [Bayer] Leverkusen. But we have to stay focused. We are professionals, we are FC Bayern, we have to win every match. We must not wane.”
The France international returned to action for the first time in 2014 during Bayern’s 5-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.
Minor injuries kept him out of the first two games after the winter break, but upon his return he contributed a goal to help secure Bayern’s 11th straight win in the Bundesliga.
“Of course, we can win the league undefeated,” Ribery said. “But we must keep our feet planted firmly on the ground. And focus on us, win and have fun.”
Bayern are also looking to become the first team in history to defend their Champions League crown this season, and face Premier League leaders Arsenal in the last-16.
“Every win in the Bundesliga is important for our confidence in the Champions League. It is important to maintain our rhythm,” Ribery said.
“We will be ready [for Arsenal]. They are a difficult opponent. But we did a very good job in London last season, however, we made too many mistakes in Munich. We have to learn from that.”
