Everton manager Roberto Martinez has swooped for 17-year-old Czech Republic goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek from Sparta Prague.

Stanek signed a two-and-a-half-year deal which will keep him on Merseyside until the end of the 2015-16 season and joins for an undisclosed.

A statement on the Everton website read: "An Under-19 international, Stanek is yet to make a senior appearance at club level, though he was an unused substitute earlier this season for games against Slovan Liberac, FK Teplice and Sigma Olomouc in the Czech top-flight.

"The acquisition of Stanek further strengthens the Club’s goalkeeping department, which is currently stocked with senior professionals Tim Howard and Joel Robles, along with youngsters Mateusz Taudul, Mason Springthorpe and Russell Griffiths."
