Liverpool are racing against time to complete a 15 million pound deal for winger Yevhen Konoplyanka before the transfer window closes on Friday.

Managing director Ian Ayre is continuing to hold talks with Ukrainian Premier League side Dnipro over a deal, sources have told ESPN, and Konoplyanka’s English representative James Lippett is also in Ukraine along with Ayre.

The Anfield club are hopeful that the deal will be completed after suffering the disappointment of losing out on Basel winger Mohamed Salah last week.

The Egyptian international had been in talks over a move to Brendan Rodgers’ side, only for Chelsea to step in and complete a deal for 11 million pounds instead.

Reports of late Tottenham interest in Konoplyanka have not stalled Liverpool’s push to sign him.

The only potential sticking point surrounds how the payment of the transfer fee will be structured, with Dnipro wanting more of the money up front.

Personal terms with the player are not expected to be an issue.

Lippett says he is hoping to get a deal done before the transfer window closes, but he has warned that such transfers can have “unbelievable” complications.

The 24-year-old, who has spent his entire career to date at Dnipro, is a versatile attacking threat who can play on either wing or in a more central role.

He has won 35 caps for Ukraine and scored a 25-yard curler against England at Wembley when the two sides drew 1-1 in a World Cup qualifier in September 2012.
