Confusion over Cabella Toon move
ESPN FC: Gab's Transfer Targets #4-5
Montpellier president Louis Nicollin says he has reached an agreement for the sale of Remy Cabella to Newcastle United in June, though his son has suggested otherwise.
Cabella, 23, is one of French football's hottest properties and has been linked to a number of clubs -- with Manchester United the most prominent.
Though the Red Devils' interest has seemingly cooled, Newcastle remain keen to see the 15 million euro-rated Cabella add further Gallic flair to their squad.
And according to Nicollin Snr, Magpies fans will be able to welcome the France under-21 international on Tyneside, though not before the end of this season.
"We have an agreement with the Newcastle board that I will not reveal. But it doesn't include a departure for Remy before the month of June, that's a certainty," Nicollin said to Midi Libre.
Nicollin Sr's comments came after his son, Laurent, who runs the club on a daily basis at his father's behest, had told RMC no deal had yet been struck with the English Premier League club.
"There's no agreement concerning Remy Cabella,” Nicollin Jr said. “He'll be a Montpellier player until the end of the season. If the Newcastle board want to talk in June, there's no problem."
A Montpellier youth academy product, Cabella, who is under contract until 2016, recently stated he would remain at the club until the end of the season.
