Morgan De Sanctis: Roma fearless
ESPN FC Extra: 1 vs. 2 clash in Serie A
Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis has warned Juventus to expect a fearless Giallorossi at the weekend.
• Horncastle: All about the little things
Five points separate the two sides at the top of Serie A going into Sunday evening's big match and De Sanctis has learnt from watching Juve in the Champions League that they can be beaten, with a bit of courage.
"It's not going to be easy for us, but it won't be easy for them either," he told Roma Channel. "Juve are the team to beat in Italy and they are practically unbeatable because that's the way the system works in Italy -- their opponents are always fearful when they face them and this is the difference Juve have in Italy compared to in Europe, where their opponents are not affected this same way.
"We will be putting everything we've got into creating Juve problems, then we'll see who is the best."
Juve have won their last nine games in Serie A and can move eight points clear at the summit, taking a further stride towards a third straight Scudetto.
Only Roma, who have yet to lose all season, are the only side capable of throwing a spanner in the works, and De Sanctis said defending their unbeaten record at the Juventus Stadium is imperative.
"Five points are already a lot and it cannot become more," he said. "Our aim is to play our best game and the result will be a consequence of that, then we'll take a look at how things are with the league table after the match, but there are still plenty of games to be played after Juve and anything can still happen."
It's enough games for Roma to secure their return to the Champions League next season, even if De Sanctis was not being explicit.
"We all agree on what we want to do, but we have to be careful with the messages we give out to the fans -- we don't want to create any illusions," added the Italian goalkeeper. "But they can rest assured that we'll give it our best, and this is already a clear and strong message."
