Ex-keeper Tomlinson in wrestling switch
Former Port Vale and Crewe goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson has revealed that he has joined America’s World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) franchise in the hope of carving out a new career as a wrestler.
Tomlinson, who retired from professional football in July after suffering a knee ligament injury, announced his decision on Twitter.
The 28-year-old had previously worked as a male model, but has now signed a developmental contract with the entertainment company.
Tomlinson began his career at Crewe Alexandra and enjoyed spells at Stafford Rangers, Barrow, Port Vale and Burton Albion, playing over 100 professional games. He has appeared on the cover of Men's Health Magazine, and is nicknamed 'The Tank' due to his impressive physical frame.
