Toure hails 'unbelievable' Nasri

Yaya Toure hailed Samir Nasri as an “unbelievable” player who is having an “amazing” season.

• Curtis: Nasri's star in the ascendancy
• Mooney: Too soon to give up on Lescott

And the Manchester City midfielder praised manager Manuel Pellegrini for getting the best out of Nasri by liberating him to attack.

Nasri admitted he was disappointed with his performances last season, when he was criticised by former manager Roberto Mancini.

But he has returned to form in the current campaign and has scored three goals in City’s last two games, including a brace in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Swansea.

And acting captain Toure said: “I think we have missed David Silva a bit as well, but Samir is unbelievable, an incredible player.

“When you look at him playing before at Arsenal, he has this same freedom now. Pellegrini allows players like him to attack and enjoy this freedom and it’s fantastic for him and the club.

“When he signed for City, the first year was quite difficult for him. You have to understand tactically that first year was quite hard for him, because he is such an offensive player and when you tell players like that to defend, it affects them, it’s not easy. But this year he is doing everything, he’s been amazing.”

And Toure said he is also an admirer of Nasri off the pitch.

He added: “He’s quiet, he’s calm and an interesting guy. When you get close to him, you love him because he’s such a fantastic guy, always smiling. He’s a nice guy, I love him, and I always enjoy playing alongside him.”
