Claudio Ranieri believes Paris Saint-Germain have what it takes to win both Ligue 1 and the Champions League, but wants his Monaco side to be ready if they slip up.

The French champions, PSG, swept aside Lyon 4-0 on Sunday evening to maintain their four-point lead over second-placed Lille, with Monaco a further point adrift in third.

Having also seen Laurent Blanc's men ease into the knockout stages of the Champions League with a game to spare, Ranieri acknowledged the club from the French capital are a step or two ahead of Monaco, even if he has plans for the Principality outfit to challenge for the Ligue 1 title too.

“I think PSG can win the title and the Champions League, they're a great team,” he told BFMTV. “They have a lot of very good players.

“It's important for us to have a good season, as I have already said, we have to qualify for the Champions League as that's our objective.

“And if PSG lose their rhythm, I want us to be there just in case, of course.”
