Club World Cup officials picked

American Mark Geiger is among six referees selected by FIFA for next month's Club World Cup.

Geiger is among the referees under consideration for next year's World Cup. His assistants include fellow American Mark Hurd and Canadian Joe Fletcher, FIFA said Tuesday.

Other referees selected for the club tournament in Morocco are Carlos Velasco Carballo of Spain, Sandro Ricci of Brazil, Bakary Papa Gassama of Gambia, Neant Alioum of Cameroon and Ali Hamad Albadwawi of the United Arab Emirates.

The seven-team tournament, which will be played in Morocco from Dec. 11-21, includes European champion Bayern Munich, South American champion Atletico Mineiro and Monterrey, champion of North and Central America and the Caribbean.
