Villarreal forward Giovani dos Santos will be out two weeks after suffering a first-grade microfracture injury to his right hamstring, the club said, adding that dos Santos will not play in Sunday’s match vs. Atletico.

The injury means the Mexico international, who was injured during Monday's 1-0 win against Elche, would not be available for a Nov. 20 El Tri recall vs. New Zealand.

Dos Santos suffered a similar injury last year prior to the Olympic soccer gold medal final vs. Brazil.

Dos Santos' brother, Barcelona midfielder Jonathan, underwent successful knee surgery Tuesday and is expected to miss six months.
