Schalke midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has said he is looking forward to returning to England, three years after leaving the Premier League to move to Italy.

Boateng, who played for Tottenham and Portsmouth before joining AC Milan in 2010, made the switch to Schalke in the summer and aims to help the Royal Blues to victory at Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Ghana international played in his club's recent defeat to Borussia Dortmund and win against Hertha Berlin despite reported knee problems.

He said he was relishing his return to England, telling a news conference: "I love London. It's great that I can finally play here again. We want to at least win a point.

"I feel better from day to day. Freshness and fitness increase with every match I play."

But he warned: "We are aware that it's going to very difficult. Especially at home, they have one of the best teams in the world."
