Sunderland midfielder David Vaughan has joined Championship side Nottingham Forest on loan.

Vaughan, whose contract expires in the summer, joined Sunderland on a free transfer from Blackpool in 2011 but has found first-team opportunities limited this season and will now spend the next three months at the City Ground.
The 30-year-old told Forest’s official website that he hopes to help the club secure their aim of promotion this season.
“I’ve been through a promotion-winning season before so hopefully I can give the lads some advice on how to do it. Every game in the Championship is tough but I’ll be giving it my best,” he said. “I’m very pleased to be here and the lads have all welcomed me in, so that’s been great. The club has a good history and the way they play football suits my style.
“I need to play as many games as possible during my time here and I’d like to help Forest get some important points towards the target of promotion.”
The Sunderland Echo also reports that Sunderland striker Connor Wickham is set for a loan to the Championship, with leaders Burnley close to agreeing a deal.
