Espanyol defender Hector Moreno, who injured his right hamstring during last week's match vs. Getafe, was taken off El Tri coach Victor Manuel Vucetich's list of players for the team's upcoming crucial CONCACAF World Cup qualifying matches.
Moreno, who was already listed by his La Liga club as doubtful for this weekend's match against Elche, was officially removed from the Mexico call-up by the federation on Wednesday night.
Moreno did not train with his Espanyol club on Wednesday, but worked out separately, according to Antonio Turmo, who heads up the Espanyol's medical services.
According to initial reports, Moreno could need up to three weeks to recover.
Mexico sits fifth in the CONCACAF 2014 World Cup qualifying Hexagonal standings. El Tri hosts Panama on Oct. 11 before closing four days later in Costa Rica.
