Former Romania and Borussia Dortmund star Marcel Raducanu believes getting Kevin-Prince Boateng sent off could be the key to Steaua Bucharest beating Schalke on Wednesday night.

Group E preview

Romania champions Bucharest go into Champions League group E facing a stern test if they are to progress, as they have been drawn against Schalke, Basel and Chelsea.

Bucharest, who won the European Cup in 1986, will return to Champions League for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

They go into their game at the Veltins-Arena as the underdogs, but former Bucharest player Raducanu has an idea of how the visitors could triumph.

"Steaua’s players have to attack Boateng," Bild quotes Raducanu as saying. "Boateng quickly loses his head if man-marked. Then he starts making nasty fouls."

The paper also quotes Bucharest coach Laurentiu Reghecampf, 37, as of saying: "Schalke is the only team we wanted to play."
