Barcelona defender Jordi Alba will be out of action for at least three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday night's 3-2 win over Sevilla.

On Sunday, a Barcelona statement said Alba, 24, had been diagnosed with torn fibres in his right hamstring.

That means he is unlikely to be available until after next month's international break and could miss six Barca matches including the Champions League games against Ajax and Celtic.

Barcelona needed a last-gasp winner from Alexis Sanchez to take all three points at Sevilla after losing the 2-0 lead they had held with 15 minutes remaining.

Lionel Messi doubled their advantage after Dani Alves had scored against his former club, but Ivan Rakitic pulled one back before Coke volleyed in with a minute left.

But a mazy Messi run set up Sanchez to steal the match in the final minute of injury time.

"I was lucky because the ball came to me and I was able to score the match-winning goal," Sanchez told Barca TV.

Javier Mascherano said Barcelona would have to get better in order to avoid similar scares, adding: "We have to improve a lot. It was because of our errors they tied the match.

"What we can't allow is have a two-goal lead and have what happened happen."
