Johan Elmander’s loan move to Norwich City has given him a new lease of life, according to Sweden team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Elmander, who played for Bolton between 2008 and 2011, joined the Canaries on a season-long loan deal from Galatasaray last month.

The striker was forced into the move after finding first-team opportunities limited in Turkey last season, following a series of thigh injuries and the arrival of Didier Drogba.

However, Ibrahimovic believes that Elmander’s return to the Premier League has revitalised his career, which will only be of benefit to Sweden.

“He is eager to play given what he went through in Galatasaray,” Ibrahimovic said ahead of Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Ireland on Friday.

“Now it feels like he’s been revamped. I know myself how it feels when you change clubs. You just want to get out there and play and get the best out of yourself at what you are good at.

“The partnership between us felt good, very good. It worked well between us against Norway. He did not score but ran a lot and we communicated a lot.”

Elmander made his Canaries debut in the 1-0 defeat against Hull City, before opening his account in the Capital One Cup just days later, netting a brace against Bury.
