Denis Cheryshev joins Sevilla on loan
ESPN FC: Manic Monday ahead
Sevilla have completed the signing of Real Madrid youngster Denis Cheryshev on a season-long loan deal, without an option to make the move permanent.
The 22-year-old winger is a product of the Madrid youth system, and has played over 100 times for the Castilla squad, even breaking into the Russian national team.
A statement from Sevilla read: "The player arrives at the Nervion team on loan, from Real Madrid, without an option to buy. The attacker, who turns 23 in December, has played for Real Madrid Castilla in recent seasons. Last term he played 34 games and scored 11 goals [in La Segunda].
“Cheryshev, a Russian international, also has Spanish citizenship, and came through the ranks in Spain. He is a son of former Sporting Gijon player Dmitri Cheryshev. The footballer passed his medical this morning, after arriving last night from Madrid."
Cheryshev is Sevilla coach Unai Emery’s 14th signing of the summer, following a massive reshaping of the squad after the departure of key players in Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo to Manchester City, and the incoming marquee signings of Kevin Gameiro from Paris Saint-Germain and Marko Marin on loan from Chelsea.
The Russia international was presented on Monday afternoon at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in Andalusia, having watched his new side draw 2-2 with Malaga on Sunday night.
