William Gallas is interested in a move to Australia’s A-League, according to the player’s agent.
Gallas, 36, is a free agent after parting ways with Tottenham at the end of last season.
Harry Redknapp is reportedly eager to bring the former France international to Queens Park Rangers, but agent Pierre Frelot says the defender is more interested in a challenge outside of Europe.
"I am not prepared to discuss current negotiations with clubs but I will say that Australia is a place that interests William and is a new football frontier," Frelot told SBS.
"He has other options, for instance the MLS, but Australia is certainly one of them. William is fit and strong and he still has a hunger to play and it would interest him to play in another continent and discover another football culture.
"It would also be a big challenge but he likes to win and he would embrace such a challenge and where he to go somewhere like Australia.
"Of course when a player of his level goes to an emerging country it helps lift the profile of the league there and where he to take on that sort of challenge the new destination would also capture the attention of the French public also."
Melbourne Victory remain linked to Gallas, but may be looking elsewhere for a marquee signing after missing out on midfielder Giorgos Karagounis and striker Fabrizio Miccoli earlier in the pre-season.
