No PSG bid for Pedro Rodriguez
Barca edge out a victory at La Rosaleda
Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has said the club have not received a bid from Paris Saint Germain for winger Pedro Rodriguez.
On Monday, Radio Marca reported that the big-spending Ligue 1 champions had made a €40 million offer for the Spain international, but stressed that he did not want to leave.
Rosell told reporters on Tuesday that the French club had made no official approach, saying: "We have received no offer from PSG for Pedro."
Marca quoted Pedro, who has started all three of Barca’s games this season ahead of €57 million signing Neymar, as saying he was flattered by the interest but happy where he was.
"I am just thinking about triumphing at Barcelona,” the Canary Islander added. “But it makes you proud when other clubs are interested in you.”
Rosell addressed reporters at the presentation of Barcelona’s three-year shirt sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways, which it was revealed will net the club €30 million, €32 million and €33.5 million over the next three seasons. It will also bring a potential once-off bonus of €5 million should the club win the Champions League in that period.
"We are with Qatar Airways in the search for excellence,” Rosell said. “As well as sponsoring FC Barcelona, they are also indirectly sponsoring the city of Barcelona and Catalonia."
The former Nike executive also said Barca had not considered selling naming rights to the Camp Nou, stressing: "We have not thought about changing the name of the Camp Nou to include Qatar Airways."
