Marek Hamsik loving life at Napoli
Marek Hamsik could not be any happier at Napoli, according to the player’s agent, who believes his client’s ambitions can be realised in Naples.
The Slovakia international recently put pen to paper on a new contract until 2018, demonstrating his commitment to the club which allowed him to make his real breakthrough as a professional.
The midfielder’s agent, Juraj Vengelos, says it was not a difficult decision to make and that Hamsik has high hopes that Napoli will be able to take the next step and win some significant honours over the course of his deal.
“I’m delighted with how things are going for Marek at the moment,” Vengelos told Radio CRC. “Napoli are playing in the Champions League and we’ve just renewed his contract and he is delighted to be committed to their project and to have the possibility to play in the Champions League.
“Napoli as a club are growing and Marek tells me that they have strengthened a lot compared to last year. He has established a good relationship with [coach Rafa] Benitez and all the information I am receiving is positive.
“Marek has adapted immediately to what the coach has asked him to do. He has a good understanding with the Argentinean [Gonzalo Higuain] and that’s going to be an important partnership in the league and the Champions League. They harmonise well.
“Winning the Scudetto is possible, but the biggest stage for the greatest champions is the Champions League.”
Napoli begin their quest to bridge the gap with back-to-back Scudetto winners Juventus against Bologna on Sunday, and Vengelos has warned about the perils the Partenopei face not only this weekend, but in what promises to be a keenly-contested Serie A season.
“It’s not going to be an easy game against Bologna,” he said. “The other clubs have all strengthened a lot and some big names have arrived from other leagues. It’s going to be an uphill struggle.”
