Premier Showdown - Aug 17-19

August 20, 2013

Premier Showdown is back for its tenth season, with ESPN FC TV pundit Tommy Smyth still celebrating after picking up his second tite in three years in May.

Dale Johnson will be hoping to take back his crown, while for the Rest of the World, our team of readers, has now gone six years without ultimate glory. The ROTW came oh so close last season though - can you help them go one better?

Looking to do just that in our first round of Showdown this weekend is James Mullaney, who is from Desoto, Missouri in the United States.

He tells us: "I'm a huge supporter of Manchester City, Cote D'ivoire and Sporting KC. I am 16 years old, I am a junior in high school, and I live in the USA. In my free time I practice soccer or I practice acting, and I was just in my first movie, Hercules The Brave and The Bold."

For each round of matches we invite someone to represent the Rest of the World and take on  ESPN FC TV's Tommy Smyth and ESPN FC journalist Dale Johnson in our predictions game.

Points are then awarded as follows:
- Three points for a correct result and scoreline
- One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the Showdown result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total Should the challenger win, the total is added to the Rest of the World tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared.

We want your entries for the first weekend of the season - so get your selections in now!

Dale claims a share of the spoils with a correct result at the Etihad. But there's a familiar tale of woe for the Rest of the World.
