Uruguayan newspaper El Observador alleged that Suarez had performed a U-turn regarding his future, following a number of statements about his intent to leave Merseyside.
Suarez was reported to have said to El Observador: "For now, due to all of the people's affection (for me), I will be staying."
"The main thing is that I am here now with the national team."
Suarez, who is currently serving a ten-game ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, has been the subject of a £40,000,001 bid from Arsenal, while Real Madrid have been credited with an interest.
But Liverpool have been adamant that they will not be selling the forward, and Wednesday's quotes seemed to indicate a line was set to be drawn under the saga.
Yet the latest quotes attributed to Suarez emanating from Japan mean conjecture will be renewed about whether he will be a Liverpool player when the transfer window closes on September 2.
The striker, signed from Ajax for £22.8 million in January 2011, has been ordered to train alone for the last week, with Rodgers admitting to concerns about his attitude.
Rodgers declared on Saturday that Suarez will not be allowed to re-join first-team training until he apologises for his behaviour in trying to force a move. The Uruguay international has so far refused to say sorry.
