Germany midfielder Mario Gotze scored twice on his Bayern Munich debut as the Bundesliga champions beat Hungarian counterparts Gyor 4-1 in a friendly on Sunday.

"The result could have been worse," Gotze told the club's official website. "Sure, it was only a friendly -- but it was quite special for me."

The 21-year-old scored three minutes after coming on as a substitute for the final half hour, and claimed his second in the last minute. Xherdan Shaqiri scored the other goals.

Gotze, a €37 million summer transfer from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund, had not played since April 30, when a hamstring injury forced him out of the Champions League semi-final at Real Madrid.

"It was a long recuperation period for me. Of course I was very unlucky," Gotze told broadcaster ZDF on Sunday. He said he decided to move to Bayern for "many little things that were important for me".

Bayern coach Pep Guardiola used Sunday's game to give his reserves a run out, with Thomas Muller the only starter from Friday's 3-1 Bundesliga win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

Daniel van Buyten was captain, playing alongside Javi Martinez in defence, with Jan Kirchhoff, Thiago Alcantara and reserve team player Christian Derflinger in midfield.

Tobias Schweinsteiger, Bastian Schweinsteiger's brother, was on the bench.
