Wellington 'dreams' of Inter move
Mazzarri looking forward to new season
Inter Milan have been invited to break their summer transfer slumber by Sao Paulo FC midfielder Wellington, who says he dreams of appearing for the Nerazzurri.
Inter coach Walter Mazzarri has seen Hugo Campagnaro, Ishak Belfodil and Mauro Icardi arrive at the club this summer, although they were all targeted and approached before he was appointed as Andrea Stramaccioni’s successor.
The former Napoli coach has spent his first month in charge getting to know the players he has at his disposal and should now make his first moves in the transfer market for the elements he feels he is lacking.
Wellington believes he is just the man Mazzarri needs and has sent out a plea for the Serie A club to come and get him.
“My dream is to play for Inter,” he told Italy’s Sky television after appearing for Sao Paulo at the Audi Cup in Munich. “I hope that the situation unblocks soon. I want to make history at Inter like Maicon, Lucio and Julio Cesar did.”
Wellington is just one name being linked with Inter, who are in the market for a new midfielder following the departures of Dejan Stankovic and Walter Gargano.
The names of Luiz Gustavo, Radja Nainggolan and Saphir Taider are also circulating while another target, Wallace, is close to arriving from Chelsea on a one-season loan deal.
Inter have made an official bid for the 19-year-old full-back, who is ineligible to play in the Premier League due to problems obtaining a work permit, and the Italian club are expecting to be given the green light to complete the transfer after meeting Blues’ officials in Indianapolis, where both clubs were involved in the pre-season Champions Cup.
