Kennedy double for Nagoya

July 31, 2013

Socceroos striker Joshua Kennedy has made the most of being kept fresh to play in the J-League, scoring a brace to help Nagoya Grampus beat Kashima Antlers 3-1.

Kennedy, the goal scoring hero from Australia's final World Cup qualification match against Iraq, had been penned in by national coach Holger Osieck to represent the Socceroos at the recently completed East Asia Cup.

But his club refused to release him for the low key tournament in South Korea despite having a mini season break.

And Kennedy didn't disappoint for Nagoya, scoring in the 10th and 76th minutes to help keep his side clear of the relegation zone in 11th spot.
